20 years ago, Big Mike was the star of the frog reality dating show The Pond Prince. Today, he’s a washed up bullfrog bachelor with communication issues.

The Pond Prince aims to explore the struggle to open up, when you were never taught how to express yourself.

The film will have a runtime of approximately 10 minutes and is a comedy with a poignant twist. Think Frog and Toad meets The Bachelor.

Synopsis:

The Pond Prince is a narrative stop motion animated short film about a former reality dating show star frog struggling with loneliness after fame. The 20th anniversary of The Pond Prince reunites the frog reality dating shows’ most infamous bachelors for a reflection on their journeys and where they are now. Told through present day interviews and flashbacks to “archival” episodes, Big Mike relives his glory days, only to find both the past and the present lacking. He reflects on the relationships he had with his contestants and why they failed. Suzy was “the one that got away” who pushed him to open up and share his feelings, despite his reticent refusal to be vulnerable on camera. So he chose Marge, the sexy, fun, “bad girl” who wasn’t right for him at all. Now single and having his mid-life crisis documented by the reunion special, he finds a kindred spirit in another former Pond Prince bachelor, Damien, a poison dart frog typecast as “The Poison Prince.” Can Mike dig deep enough to open up and form a connection, if only a platonic one?
